Dr. Peterson and Dr. Lapp using Ampligen

No. of patient recoveries: 5 out of 6

The drug Ampligen has produced very dramatic, beneficial results for ME patients in controlled trials. The only drawback is that it has to be taken continuously for a year or longer and it is quite expensive. Ampligen works by restoring an important anti-viral part of the immune system back to normal ( the 2-5A Synthetase/Rnase L Antiviral Pathway). This anti-viral pathway is defective in ME patients. Experiments with Ampligen are mentioned in the book 'Oslers Web', by Hillary Johnson, Penguin Books 1997. Ampligen is available on prescription in Canada and Belgium at this time
